Description
Research use only
Melanotan 2 is a synthetic cyclic heptapeptide analogue of the alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH). It primarily acts as an agonist of the melanocortin receptors MC1R and MC4R. Research indicates that Melanotan 2 stimulates melanin production in the skin, leading to pigmentation effects, while also modulating pathways linked to appetite, sexual behavior, and energy homeostasis. Preclinical studies suggest applications in skin photoprotection, metabolic research, and the exploration of neuroendocrine function.
